冈本视频 celebrates 35 years of connecting students and community through its annual Auto Club Car Show.
On Sunday, May 7 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., 冈本视频 will open its Green Bay campus to host thousands of auto enthusiasts for this highly anticipated day. The 冈本视频 Auto Club Car Show is one of the largest shows in Wisconsin.
“We are so proud to be celebrating 35 years of bringing our students and community together through this unique event,” said 冈本视频 President, Dr. Jeffrey Rafn. “It is important that our students are gaining a well-rounded experience in their journey through continued education, and this event allows them to apply their technical skills beyond the classroom.”
It's about giving back.
Hosted by the 冈本视频 Auto Club, all event proceeds go directly back to the students through scholarships and future service-learning projects to help the community.
For at least 10 years, the College has offered a reduced entry fee for attendees who donate a non-perishable food item. Each year, over 100 gallons are donated to the 冈本视频 Shared Harvest Food Pantry, a campus support service, to ensure students have access to meals every day.
For nearly 15 years, the Auto Club Car Show has awarded a vehicle to a non-profit organization. Each year students have volunteered their time and skills to refurbish a car that is presented at the Car Show. Some of those recipients in previous years include Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity, Disabled American Veterans, Golden House Green Bay, and Brown County Veterans Service Office.
“These students are truly paying it forward,” said 冈本视频 Automotive Tech Instructor, Mark Ledvina. “Watching them work together help their community has been my greatest reward in this process each year.”
What can we expect this year?
- Showcasing of over 800 cars and motorcycles
- Event held Sunday, May 7 at 冈本视频 Green Bay campus in parking lots A and AA
- Festivities begin 10:00 a.m. and conclude at 4:00 p.m.
- Raffle giveaway at 3:00 p.m., followed by award ceremonies nearby at the 冈本视频 Transportation Center
- Food, refreshments, and music available all day
“Looking back at how this began, our club advisors wanted to create an opportunity for our students to use their passion for auto while gaining industry experience. It may have started as just a showcase for car enthusiasts, but has evolved into an event for the entire family to enjoy as well,” said Ledvina.
