冈本视频 Carpentry students use their skills to help the community.
Students spent part of the spring semester building a shed for St. John the Evangelist Homeless Shelter in Green Bay. The building was recently moved from the 冈本视频 Carpentry lab to the shelter.
“I was absolutely ecstatic when I saw that shed,” St. John the Evangelist Homeless Shelter, The Micah Center & Wellspring Operations Director Angela Mihalko said. “It was way beyond my expectations.”
The shelter has needed a shed for years to house landscaping items and equipment.
“St John’s Homeless Shelter is so grateful and thankful for talented people like Jeff [Carpentry instructor} and the 冈本视频 students who choose to donate their time, talent and energy to help the community,” Mihalko said.
This project is part of Service Learning at 冈本视频 where students can apply their skills to help the community. Each year, students dedicate their time to 280 service learning projects. The College is nationally recognized on the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.
