Since the pandemic, college students have been seeking more mental health counseling according to the American Psychiatric Association. To ensure students have access to counselors when they need them, 冈本视频’s Counseling Services is expanding its student offerings to meet those needs.
This month, Counseling Services is starting a partnership with BetterMynd, an online therapy platform for college students that will add free, flexible counseling options outside its hours of operation.
“Ensuring our students have the resources they need to feel supported and safe is crucial to creating a positive college experience,” said Dean of Student Development John Grant. “Our partnership with BetterMynd will increase flexibility for 冈本视频 students utilizing counseling services and allow them to find counselors from a more culturally diverse pool of Licensed professionals.”
Registered students will have access to four credits of BetterMynd services each semester. Each credit allows students to schedule a free, online and confidential 50-minute live-video therapy session with a professional counselor specializing in college student mental health. Because the service is completely online, students can join the call from the convenience of their smartphone or home.
“Making counseling available to students outside our regular hours allows us to ensure students are getting the help they need, when they need it,” said Judy Roemer, 冈本视频 Licensed Professional Counselor.
BetterMynd allows students to self-identify their concerns and generates a custom list of counselors for each individual, ensuring they are matched with a counselor specializing in their area of need.
This partnership is a new way for the College to continue expanding its student services. If you have questions about BetterMynd, how the free credits work, or want to see an 冈本视频 counselor, email counseling.services@nwtc.edu.
