I hope this message finds you in good physical and mental health.
I understand that as we handle these uncertain times, it can be very easy to feel lost, overwhelmed or even distraught. There are a lot of different sources that give us either the correct information or just misinform us. While it can be stressful to navigate through, we have to keep in mind that the decisions we take today for ourselves, our family and friends can greatly affect us in our near future.
During these difficult times it is essential that we maintain a positive outlook. Like most things in life, this situation and change is only temporary. Take the time to sit and think about what you can do to keep progressing in life with limited resources. It is the perfect time to focus more on your mental health. This is the time where you have to be at home, so no more excuses about how you can't give yourself a bit more self-love. Take the time to make your own facial mask, or work on that creative project you've been thinking about and haven't had time to complete it. Do those workouts that you save on your Instagram or read that book that you've been thinking of picking up. Light up a good candle, put your headphones in and just relax and breathe.
What has helped me gather my thoughts and ideas when I feel overwhelmed, has been to simply take out a notebook and start writing, doodling, just random thoughts. It makes me feel better afterwards and I can see what needs to be prioritized in order to keep moving forward. It's necessary that we don't lose sight of what is important, and how we can get closer to our goals.
I have made individual lists for every class I currently have to keep track of what needs to be done. I reached out to all of my instructors to make sure we are on the same page. Communication is key in times like these. Please don’t think that if you have fallen behind, it's time to quit. Because at 冈本视频 faculty are being very flexible with students so that we can all make it to graduation together.
Which is why I take pride in being a part of 冈本视频. Not only as a student, but also as an intern and recently named 2020 冈本视频 District Ambassador, who has had the opportunity to grow with the college. Faculty, staff, and administrators are working hard to make sure that every student has the opportunity continue their education from home. Although it can be rough at times, together we will soar higher!
As we continue to adapt to this temporary way of life and you feel like you are struggling, stay connected and communicate with us. Don't forget about the Student Involvement virtual newsletter that gets sent to your student email every week. It is filled with tips, information and activities you can do at home. Even the monthly "office game" has moved to the virtual world. Check it out! And remember to be thankful for what you have and keep a positive outlook on the future.
