Personal Care Worker - Certificate
Emphasizes aspects of providing personal and supportive/rehabilitative in-home and facility based health care including client’s rights, communication, rehabilitation, positioning and transfer skills, infection control, and safety. This is a 30-hour in person course combining lecture with laboratory practice of learned skills. All skill competencies will be assessed under the guidance of a registered nurse.

Curriculum
Students following the study plan below will complete the certificate in the number of semesters shown.
- Curriculum Note: This course must be passed with an 80% or better.
Certificate Outcomes
- Assist clients with daily cares and tasks in their homes.
- Assist clients with daily care in supportive facilities.
- Gain employment with an organization to provide cares for their clients.
- Start own business and contract directly with clients to provide services.

- This certificate is mainly a skill-based offering. Class sessions are focused on hands on activities and practicing personal care skills.
- Online

Classes wherever you have an internet connection.
- An in-person career experience, such as an internship, practicum, or credit for prior learning, may be required.
- Some online courses may be held at specific dates/times.
- Day
- Classes between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
- Evening
- Classes between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
- Weekend
- A combination of online classes and Saturday and/or Sunday classes.
