HVAC - Technical Diploma
The two-year Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) Technician technical diploma prepares students for an entry-level career in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration. HVAC/R technicians install, service, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC/R systems used for the environmental control of buildings and product processes. This includes work on a wide variety of equipment types including residential (homes), commercial (restaurants, offices, hotels), institutional (schools, hospitals), and industrial (manufacturing plants). Although HVACR technicians are trained to install, maintain and repair heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, many focus their work on installation, maintenance or repair. Some technicians specialize in one or more specific aspects of HVACR such as radiant heating systems, solar panels, testing and balancing, or commercial refrigeration. With completion of additional general studies courses a student can obtain an associate degree in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology.

Course Descriptions
An introduction to using HVAC industry standard mobile apps, file management, cloud storage, and integration between applications. (Prerequisite: Accepted into the HVAC/R program, Technical Diploma or Basics Certificate)

Course Typically Offered: Summer Fall SpringTopics include solving linear equations; graphing; percent; proportions; measurement systems; computational geometry; and right triangle trigonometry. Emphasis will be on the application of skills to technical problems. (Prerequisite: Next Gen Arithmetic score greater/equal to 250 AND Rdg score greater/equal to 250; OR ACT Math score greater/equal to 15 AND ACT Rdg score greater/equal to 16; OR preparatory courses-contact an academic advisor 920-498-5444)
Course Typically Offered: Summer Fall Springan introduction to basic electricity and the proper use of a digital multi-meter as it applies to typical HVAC switching circuits. (Prerequisite: Accepted into the HVAC Technology Program, Technical Diploma, or Basics Certificate)
Course Typically Offered: FallIntroduction to basic mechanical devices and tools used for assembly, disassembly and adjustment.
Course Typically Offered: Summer Fall SpringAddresses OSHA 29CFR1926 rules and is approved by OSHA for construction workers, foremen, job supervisors, and anyone involved in construction trades. Successful participants receive 30-hour card from OSHA.
