How can I use this course to achieve my career goals?

This course is associated with the following programs:

What will I learn?

  1. Outline the process of high voltage current production as it applies to x-ray production
  2. Discuss the atomic interactions resulting in x-ray production and resultant photon occurrences
  3. Explain the electrical processes occurring in the x-ray tube during and after x-ray production
  4. Predict the effect upon diagnostic image quality with various modifications to x-ray tube designs, spatial alignment and geometric orientations
  5. Apply methods for x-ray exposure control and beam termination
  6. Analyze x-ray beam characteristics with changes in exposure factors, beam filtration and collimation
  7. Analyze various x-ray room designs for optimum radiation safety
  8. Troubleshoot major x-ray system components of a typical radiographic unit for successful operation
