- Use safe practices in the fire service not only on the fireground but in all required activities
- Choose protective clothing and gear
- Use fire service equipment
- Illustrate general fire department organization
- Describe the nature of fire travel
- Differentiate classes of fire and hazards created for the firefighter
- Operate various types and sizes of fire extinguishers
- Utilize various types and sizes of hose
- Utilize various methods of supplying water for fireground operations
- Operate fire streams
- Use ladders for fireground operations
- Gain entrance into buildings
- Summarize venting techniques and operations
- Use salvage covers and other salvage equipment
- Perform overhaul
- Determine the cause of the fire
- Use self-contained breathing apparatus
- Use rope and knots for fireground operations
- Use SCBA in searching for victims in a building
- Use hose lines within a structure
- Use ladders for rescue
- Examine fire department communications
- Analyze the value of fire prevention activities and fire inspection procedures
